Bay Drive Residence
Location: Miami Beach, FL
Client: Peter Eldgridge
Project:
A Contemporary/Modern home style is marked by simple, clean lines; the idea that “form follows function;” and the use available building materials (iron, steel and sheet glass). These homes meld historic elements with current lifestyle concepts—resulting in spaces that are warm, inviting and connected with the outdoors. The Bay Drive Residence was designed with this design philosophy in mind. The 2 story-4,500 uses as part of its design features an irregular, asymmetrical façade, strong, geometric shapes, extensive use of natural light, an open floor plan in a shape to embrace outdoor space and large windows, often placed non-symmetrically. Part of the design concept is to keep portions of the existing residence and have the city view as a remodeling not a new house while bringing the home to currant flood zone Finish floor elevation of 8.0 feet.
